ICATS Same-Sex Twin Imaging Study (Brain MRI)
SUBJECTS NEEDED:  Typically developing and ASD same-sex twin pairs between the ages of 4-14 years old. We are recruiting 120  same-sex twin pairs between the ages of 4 and 14 years old where both twins are in good health and do not have a severe neuropsychiatric disorder or where one or both of the twins has been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.

PURPOSE OF STUDY: Dr. Hardan and his associates are examining genetic and non-genetic factors of the brain structure and chemistry and their relationships to clinical features of autism. They are hoping to learn clinical or biological markers of autism that will lead to a better understanding and treatment of this disorder.

INITIATION DATE: October 2008 COMPLETION DATE: December 2014
METHOD OF INVESTIGATION: A variety of behavioral and cognitive assessments will be administered to each twin along with an interview with the parent(s).  Saliva samples will be collected. All twins will complete an MRI scan.
